Meursault

Meursault are the most exciting band to emerge from the capital since Found. Their sound is not unlike a lo-fi, rough edged Arcade Fire mixed with Thom Yorke’s solo efforts which is indeed a treat to be heard.

What makes Meursault stand out from the crowd however, is the quality of their songs, which are simultaneously romantic, intensely bleak and wryly funny.
An extremely unique outfit indeed who show that it is possible to write a song that tells a story in such a way that the listener truly believes what they are hearing.

The Redwell

The Red Well are a 4-piece rock band from Edinburgh. Having released their debut album "Amid Storms We Arrive" on Fife’s Fence Records earlier on in the year they continue to dazzle crowds with their epic and ferocious live shows, not shying away from rock dynamics and the odd deafening guitar solo here and there. They can also bring the volume down with ghostly quiet cinematic songs, always with the intent of implanting a catchy tune in the listener’s head.

The band are led by songwriter Jim Abel, with bassist Barry Hughes, drummer John Muir and guitarist / keyboard player David Keay completing the group; each member contributing to the sound of a band striving to create soundtracks to the often downbeat lyrics.

After forming a few years ago, initially as a solo project for Abel, the band have grown and played many memorable gigs around the country. These include shows with bands such as Idlewild, Magnolia Electric Co, King Creosote, Frightened Rabbit and Malcolm Middleton. The band are currently working on their second album and a live recording for a concept album about Scottish lighthouses.
