Dava Le FunkOn 24 February, the mighty
SLAM make one of their eagerly-anticipated visits to Edinburgh as they make an appearance on the decks at We Are Electric to help celebrate Cab's fifth birthday party week, Five Days for Five Years.
Slamneed no introduction. The legendary UK techno duo of Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle have travelled far and wide, touring Australia, the USA , Europe, South America and Japan and they hold residencies at two of the UK's best clubs: Pressure in their home town of Glasgow, and Fabric in the nation’s Capital, London.
Slam are the proud co-owners of Soma Records, which, in its 18th year, continues to be one of the world’s finest purveyors of cutting edge electronic music, with recent releases and remixes from Silicone Soul, the Black Dog, Mihalis Safras, Mark Broom, Joris Voorn, Prompt, Samuel L Session, Christian Prommer, Radio Slave, Paul Ritch, D'Julz, Adam Beyer, Steve Rachmad, Itamar Sagi and Funk D Void.
Slam's new label Paragraph sees the pair focus on their own productions entirely. The first release “City Destroyer”, with its sinister pitched vocals and crafty, crisp and skippy electronic soundscapes, secured club plays from the likes of Richie Hawtin, Adam Beyer and Laurent Garnier. Paragraph 2, “Hot Knives”, was even bigger staying in the Beatport top 10 for 10 weeks with plays from just about every big name including Carl Craig, Anja Schneider, Dave Clarke and Dubfire.

WE ARE ELECTRIC BACKGROUND INFOWE ARE ELECTRIC is the creation of club-owner/promoter Sarah David, and DJs Gary Mac and Flix. The club was born in August of 2005, with the primary aim of bringing new and exciting underground European electronic dance music to Scotland's capital city.
Fast-forward to today, and the punk-funk electro-disco sound has found its way into the hearts and minds of countless midweek clubbers. The WAE faithful are entertained each and every week by resident electro-punk and host Gary Mac, who plays the genre-mashing soundtrack to one of the livliest and up-for-it dancefloors in town, with help from various DJ friends from across the city.
The emphasis is strictly on great music and dancing, and to provide a space where you can feel free to express yourself out on the floor and socialise with friends and strangers alike. This combination of a friendly atmosphere and quality music is what makes WAE the club it is today.
On top of this, our mission is to bring to the club the cream of the dance music scene, to perform for your pleasure and delight. Producers, DJs and live artists who have previously graced the WAE stage include
