Oh I don’t know, I don’t know, oh, where to begin…’ Just like James Murphy, we don’t really know where to start. We are Cabaret Voltaire and this is our brand new blog for all musical, event and arts news. In the first edition of our monthly round ups we need to brag a wee bit, but that’s only because we have so much in store in the coming month!
Bit by bit and to the point then…
Having rocked the past three months since its launch, our new Saturday night series, The Borough Collective, continues with the variety of quality and affordable events. Apart form Craig Smith’s residency (6th Borough Project) on the first weekend of April, the sexy Crash Goes Love on the last weekend, and the eclectic TOUCHE in between, the cherry on top comes on the Easter weekend. The mighty, DJ maestro KARIZMA will be delivering his unique and versatile live DJ show!
Easter weekend means Monday off – and Monday off means Sunday night out, right? Aye, so for all the holiday needs we thought we’ll throw an extra Disco affair on Easter Sunday. Bridging the many years of experience with the freshness of young spirit – we’ve got Gareth Somerville and Chris Thomas playing b2b for the first time ever.
Regarding our usual weekly and monthly suspects: Hector’s Tuesdays’ are looking as strong as ever but the lads don’t stop or fall short – look out for the upcoming announcements on their FB pages! All we can say about the monthly ODYSSEY Thursdays is: get your tickets now! Tom Trago lands on the 6th of April, supported by Nothing More to Say and the local legends from Capri Collective: Chris Murray and Baz. Lastly. The FLY team: with Denis Sulta the highest new comer in the RA 2016 DJ poll, Theo Kottis just returned from a very successful North American tour and Jasper James added to the resident bill, 2017 is looking huge for FLY CLUB. Theo and Jasper are both back in April for their infamous ‘all night long’ sets so keep your eyes peeled on FB.
Things are bouncing in the Café Voltaire too. With weekly residencies from P-Stylz, Nasty P, Martin Valentine, David Elder and weekends covered by Natasha Kitty Kat, Rob Ralston and the incredible Shaka Loves You, Café V stays open and busy till 3am!
On Sunday the 9th we are also hosting our monthly Photography Gallery event aimed at showcasing Edinburgh’s based visual artists. Free entry, drink promos and plenty of like-minded creatives around.
That’s probably enough info and events to keep you entertained for the month. Keep warm, stay in touch and get involved!
