The clocks have gone forward, the sun is shining and the music is playing louder and more often than ever at Cab! Just get those uni exams out of the way, play some tactical day off requests for the May bank holidays and let the spring take over…
Last month we launch our Into the Vaults podcast mix series (check it out here), just in time for those sunny days in the Meadows. We will be adding them on monthly basis so keep an eye as we have some gems lined up for a near future.
April also saw our favorite DJ guest to date playing the Collective Presents… (TBC). The mighty KARIZMA may be from Baltimore (USA), but his set was out of this world! Dance floor packed with smiley faces and hands up in the air is really what The Borough Collective is all about. Visit the photo gallery for a taste and make sure you get down here next time!
The Borough Collective crew continue their musical venture into May with the return of Rebel Waltz on the 20th and the usual suspects of Find Your Rhythm (Craig Smith), TOUCHE (Huggy and Marco Cappozella) and Crash Goes Love (Gareth Somerville) will soundtrack the remaining Saturdays.
May is a special time for all the students as they finalize their academic year and therefore we thought we would throw a couple of extra parties. Kicking off on Monday (8th of May) with a free entry Hip Hop affair hosted by Chris Thomas, Paddy Do Rego, Mahdi Ben Hamou and Harry Chalmersand across three rooms and culminating in end of exams celebrations with a very special guest: DJ Deeon! The house and vibes specialist from across the Atlantic made a quite impression on us the last time round so you better be sure to grab those hot early bird tickets!
Things at HECTORS and FLY Club are looking pretty standard, which of course means full dance floors in Cab’s vaults every week. May also marks HECTORS birthday and the team behind ‘Edinburgh’s soundest midweek party’ has something very special in store! We can say much now but keep an eye on social media for the upcoming hints.
Lastly, a touch of culture, arts and well being for good measure. Ragged University, our monthly TED Talk style event will be celebrating the Mental Awareness week with a couple of insightful and inspiring talks on the subject. This month our photography gallery in the Café features some outstanding street photography from Hong Kong by Mariusz Bogacki. We will also be launching a new gallery at the end of the month so make sure to check out the events list on the Café’s page. Finally, after successful trial session during last month Shake Awake event, we welcome Natalie for a weekly slot of VOGA. Inspired by Madonna’s seminal pop album from the 80s and combining modern fashion and lifestyle trends, VOGA is basically yoga with attitude – performed to some loud sassy music.
No matter what your thing is: keep safe, get involved and ‘strike a pose’!
